John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway
WY
In an effort to recognize the conservationist and philanthropist who had made so many contributions to Grand Teton and other national parks, the United States Congress dedicated approximately 24,000 acres of land as the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway in 1972.
Grand Teton National Park administers the parkway, which links Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. The parkway contains features that are characteristic of both areas. In the parkway, the Teton Range tapers to a gentle slope at its northern edge, while rocks born of volcanic flows from Yellowstone line the Snake River and form outcroppings scattered on top of hills and ridges.
