Whitewater trips also headquarter out of Cody, on the east side of Yellowstone, and the scenic Wind River Canyon is floated by companies based in Thermopolis. Near Saratoga, scenic, fishing and whitewater trips through Northgate Canyon are available on the North Platte River.
The Missouri River, which divides the state of South Dakota in half, offers swimming, boating, camping, picnicking, and hiking as well as great fishing for walleye and northern pike. Watercraft rentals are available in Chamberlain, and float trips and houseboats are available in Wagner.
